1. Drinking Alcohol Steals Your Ambition
If you have big ideas and big ambitions for your life then you should take them. You only get one chance at this life, and you owe it to yourself to make the most of every opportunity, and not to wait for that special moment to arrive. You make your own opportunities by taking hold of each and every moment, and making them special. You deserve the best, and alcohol is a thief that is trying to snatch it away from you.
If you have a big idea – then give it a try. If it fails, try again. Don’t allow your inner voice or drinking too much alcohol convince you that you can’t succeed. Actually the opposite is true. Sometimes you are destined to fail at the first attempt, and that is what makes the final achievement better. Success is sweeter, and often you achieve a better outcome than what you originally aimed for, but only because an early failure corrected your direction, and set you on a better path. Don’t quit. Don’t let alcohol defeat you. You can stop drinking alcohol if you really want to, and don’t let alcohol stop you from trying.

2. Alcohol is a Thief and it Steals Your Productive Time
Alcohol is not your friend – alcohol is a thief. It steals your time, it steals your creative energy, and it steals your enthusiasm. Have you ever had one of those experiences where you felt in the moment, only to be interrupted by some other meaningless diversion, never to get that moment back? Have you regretted not being able to channel those creative juices into something meaningful? Have you ever wasted a perfect opportunity because of alcohol? Alcohol is not your friend, it is a major diversion and it prevents you from following through to completion or success or you ultimate goal. Alcohol does not inspire you to be more creative, the opposite is true. Alcohol is the friend of procrastination, so if you are a creative, thinking person, then alcohol is not your friend, and you would be much better off if you could stop drinking alcohol.

Have you ever had one of those moments of sheer inspiration, when you say, I wish I could write that down, but inevitably forget? Have you ever blamed one of those moments on drinking too much alcohol? Well of course, alcohol steals your good ideas, forgets that you ever thought of them, and pretends it was all your fault! Alcohol is a thief and is not your friend.
4. Drinking Steals Your Time With Loved Ones
Despite the fact that we tend to associate social occasions with drinking alcohol, we need to be able to step back and have a closer look at who we are spending our time with, and whether those relationships are built on long lasting foundations, or whether we have our alcohol glasses on, and not truly focused on those family members that really matter the most to us.
We know this sounds a bit threatening at first, but deep down we know it is the truth. Alcohol is a thief and it steals our time from our real friends, our close family, and especially our children. Alcohol does not let you share your time with your children. Drinking too much alcohol makes you an absent parent, even if you are present with your family, alcohol does not share its time equally between you and your family. Alcohol is a very jealous and unwelcome friend, and it does not embrace interruptions, it does not give proper attention to young children when they need your undivided attention, and it certainly does not assist you to deal with young children’s behavior. In fact, the opposite is true. If your children’s behavior is not as you would desire, sometimes we need to step back and assess our own behavior, our relationship with alcohol, and the message that we are sending to our children through their observations.
No, alcohol does not share time with you and your family on an equal basis, and it does not create extra time for you. Worse still, drinking too much alcohol does not give you any time back later, you time is gone, and it has been stolen by alcohol.
5. Drinking Not Only Steals Today, It Takes Tomorrow Also!
Have you ever had great plans for a day only to be high jacked by drinking too much alcohol? Maybe you were working on an important job could nearly be completed by the end of the day, but an old friend arrives for a beer and a chat. Bingo – no chance of finishing now! How about exploring a new location, or going for a drive, only to stop in for lunch somewhere, have a couple of drinks, and suddenly the afternoon is gone. What a wasted opportunity, stolen by alcohol.
Even worse, have you ever made plans for an enjoyable day out tomorrow, maybe an early morning fishing trip, or a hike in the woods, or a day out sailing? Have you ever had one of those days ruined by drinking too much alcohol the night before? Too hung over to get up early, miss that slim window of opportunity, the weather closes in, and suddenly the day is lost, and the plans come to nothing.
Have you ever noticed that alcohol can steal both today and tomorrow from you?
6. Alcohol is a thief and it Steals Your Money
Have you ever added up what your drinking habit actually costs you on a daily basis? Have you ever multiplied that up over the course of 12 months? If you think that is not a significant amount, then you are lying, and alcohol is not your friend. Ok, so let’s look a little deeper, I don’t just mean the cheap plonk that we drink at home. There is also the cost of those expensive lunches, with fine wine as an extra cost. How about those special celebrations with a little extra alcohol treat thrown in. Whoops, seems to be a lot more special occasions than we at first thought! How about those special bottles of fine wine you bought for your self as a treat? They didn’t evaporate – you drank them, and they cost money!
How about those special nights out, maybe the theater, a movie, or party with some extra drinks thrown in? It all adds to the cost! How about those holidays, maybe a cruise, or relaxing spa or resort? Those drinks prices are enormous, but that doesn’t seem to stop us from drinking too much alcohol. We need to add up the full amount, to work out just how much money alcohol has stolen from us!

We have been programmed to believe that drinking alcohol, say in the form of a fine wine, can actually provide a benefit to our health. This is not true! If it were true, then we could easily consume the grape juice for health and leave out the alcohol part, but we don’t do that. So how much alcohol is Healthy? Alcohol does not improve our health, in fact the opposite is true, and it can actually cause serious side effects, and this happens every single day.
Alcohol is called the silent killer by the medical profession, as they are the front line in the war against alcohol.
Too much exposure to alcohol results in a visit to hospital, and an appointment with medical professionals. We don’t tend to discuss organ failure around the dinner table or in front of television, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist! The silent killer is busy working behind the scenes, away from the bright lights of advertising and the beautiful faces used for promotion of the poisonous, addictive drug.
Just because you can’t see or feel your liver is no excuse. It is under severe attack every time you drink alcohol, and maybe one day it won’t be able to save you… “Help Stop Drinking!”
How about stress? Are you stressed at work? Are you stressed by work colleagues? Are you stressed by paying bills? Are you stressed at home, or just during the daily commute? Whatever adds to our stress, at least we can have a drink to calm our nerves. Not true – alcohol increases your stress, and this is one of the telltale symptoms of drinking too much alcohol.
We all have daily stress in our lives, and we all need to learn to cope with stressful situations. But drinking is not a good way to do it. Drinking actually builds stress and anxiety over a period of time such that your blood pressure builds, the stress increases, and can lead to serious problems such as hypertension and irregular heart rate. Contrary to popular beliefs, alcohol does not relieve you of your stress, nor does it help you to deal with stressful situations, it just makes it worse. For example, look at these six signs of alcohol poisoning:
If you have a tendency toward high blood pressure, alcohol will make it worse, not better.
If you have a tendency toward high cholesterol, alcohol will make it worse.
If you have a tendency toward excess body weight, alcohol will make it worse.
If you have a tendency toward poor circulation problems, alcohol will make it worse.
If you have a tendency toward brain fog, alcohol will make it worse.
If you have a tendency toward liver damage, alcohol will make it worse.
Maybe it is time to reflect on these serious issues, which are common symptoms of drinking too much, and identify your reasons to stop drinking alcohol before it steals the things that are most important to you!
